“I have succeeded to experiment a glorious feeling” – Ludovic Lacay, the Champion of EPT San Remo 2012

San Remo was the new scene hosting the famous European Poker Tour at its 9est edition. For one week, the Italian city located on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea was the arena of the second stage of the poker event. Following the first stage that took place in Barcelona and which was a real success, the new calendar of events didn’t lower its sights of pleasant surprises.
The Main Event – the fast race to the end
Many prizes, many flashes and countless thrilling moments! These are but few of the features of EPT San Remo. The full description involves many other scenes that complete this memorable play. The total 797 players that signed in for the Main Event created a prize pool of nearly 4.000.000 Euros. A number of 11 Romanian players were among those qualified for the Main Event, including Iulian Ruxandrescu, Liviu Ignat and Mihai Manole, who went home with 10.000 Euros each, respectively 8.000 Euros after finishing on the position 88 and 100.
The second stop of EPT distinguished itself mostly by the presence of great European poker names, but also by the very large audience. The popular Main Event with a buy in of 5000 + 300 Euros took place in October 5th to 11, and the entire Festival started two days earlier, on October the 3rd.
The Main Event required five gaming levels and 42 players qualified to play at the third tables of the final race. The leaders of the 24 players remained were the Irish Jason Tompkins, with 2,423 millions in chips and Inge Forsmo, both being the only players with more than 2 millions chips.
The Final Table – exotism and turns
The final table of 3 players saw the Canadian Jason Lavalle, who entered the table as the chip lider with 5,545,000 chips, followed by the French Ludovic Lacay, and the Irish player Jason Tompkins. The Romanian player Iulian Ruxandrescu was left behind, on the 12 position, bringing him 40,000 Euros.
Ludovic Lacay was victorious, he defeated Jason Lavallee in a short battle in heads-up, with a full that crushed the color draw of Lavallee. “In the beginning of each tournament you think you have a chance of winning it, but you never really expect to win. I have succeeded to experiment a glorious feeling”, declared the owner of the European Poker Tour San Remo Championship Toffee, Ludovic Lacay, that took home the amount of 744,910 Euros, but also a Shamballa Jewels gold bracelet. The Champion of this stage, Ludovic Lacay, is a young man of 27 from Tolouse, with a reputation of a redoubtable player, but also a respected one. Nevertheless, this is the first major title of his carrier.
Side Event – ace under the sleeve!
74 players signed up for the High Roller Tournament, in value of 10,000 Euros, and the final table gathered the Swedish player Joel Nordkvist, with the biggest stack of chips – 1,205,000, Benny Spindler and Keven Stammen. This event was won by the champion of EPT London, Benny Spindler who won 253,000 Euros.
The Side Event named €220 NLHE hyper turbo tournament, with total prizes of 32,980 Euros and 172 layers. The Romanian player Călin Onchis finished on the 10th position and won 690 Euros, the first position being taken by the Portuguese player Miguel Silva, who won 4,770 Euros.
The Poker Festival from “The City of Flowers”
San Remo, the city located on the Northwest cost of Italy, is also called The City of Flowers. This beautiful city hosted the second event of EPT 9, stars of poker and qualified players. Several records were broken within this first festival of the 9th season, with totally 6,848 players that signed up for the 50 events and a prize pool of more that 14 millions. Also a record we should mention is the fact that The Main Event was the largest tournament in Spain’s history.
The next destination on the list of European Poker Tour is The Czech Republic; here will take place the EPT Prague tournament in December 5th to 15th, with a buy in of 5,000 + 300 Euros.

San Remo a fost noua scenă care a găzduit celebrul European Poker Tour, aflat la sezonul 9. Orașul italian de pe țărmul Mării Mediterane a fost, pentru o săptămână, arena de desfășurare a celei de-a doua etape a evenimentului de poker. După prima etapă desfășurată în Barcelona, care a fost un adevărat succes, noul calendar al evenimentelor nu a coborât ștacheta în ceea ce privește surprizele plăcute.
Main Event – cursa rapidă către final
Multe premii, multe flashuri şi nenumărate momente de suspans! Acestea sunt doar câteva dintre atributele care pot descrie EPT San Remo. Descrierea lui completă dezvăluie însă mult mai multe scene care compun această piesă memorabilă. În total, cei 797 de jucători înscrişi pentru Main Event au creat un fond de premii care s-a apropiat de 4.000.000 euro. Printre cei calificaţi pentru Main Event s-au găsit şi 11 jucători români, printre care Iulian Ruxăndescu, Liviu Ignat şi Mihai Manole, care au luat 10.000, respectiv 8.000 de euro după ce au terminat pe poziţiile 88 şi 100.
A doua oprire pentru EPT s-a remarcat înainte de toate prin prezenţa unor nume mari ale pokerului european, dar şi printr-o audienţă foarte mare. Popularul Main Event cu un buy in de 5000 + 300 euro s-a desfăşurat în perioada 5-11 octombrie, iar întregul festival a avut startul cu două zile mai devreme, pe 3 octombrie.
În cursa de la Main Event, a fost nevoie de cinci niveluri de joc pentru ca din cei 42 de jucători să rămână cele trei mese care au concurat pentru cursa finală. Fruntaşii celor 24 de jucători rămaşi au fost irlandezul Jason Tompkins, cu 2.423 milioane în cipuri şi Inge Forsmo, singurii care aveau peste 2 milioane de cipuri.
Masa finală – exotism și schimbări de situație
La masa finală de 3 jucători au rămas canadianul Jason Lavalle, care a intrat pe poziţia de lider, cu 5.545.000 fise, urmat de francezul Ludovic Lacay, cărora li s-a alăturat şi irlandezul Jason Tompkins. Românul Iulian Ruxandescu a rămas în urmă, pe poziţia 12, însă a încasat 40.000 euro pentru această poziţie.
Victoria a fost adjudecată de Ludovic Lacay, care l-a învins pe Jason Lavallee într-o luptă scurtă de heads-up, după ce a scos un full care a zdrobit draw-ul de culoare al lui Lavallee. “La începutul fiecărui turneu te gândeşti că ai şansa să-l câştigi, dar niciodată nu te aştepţi să se întâmple asta cu adevărat. Eu am reuşit şi trăiesc un sentiment minunat”, a declarat deţinătorul trofeului de campion al European Poker Tour San Remo, Ludovic Lacay, care a luat marea recompensă de 744.910 euro, dar şi o brăţară Shamballa Jewels.

Campionul acestei etape, Ludovic Lacay, este un tânăr de 27 de ani din Tolouse, care şi-a creat o reputaţie demnă de un jucător de temut, dar şi de respectat în acelaşi timp. Cu toate acestea, este primul titlu major din cariera lui.
Evenimentele adiacente – așii din mânecă!
Turneul High Roller de 10.000 euro a avut 74 de jucători înscrişi, la masa finală reunindu-se suedezul Joel Nordkvist, cu cele mai multe fise – 1.205.000, Benny Spindler şi Keven Stammen. Acest eveniment a fost câştigat de campionul EPT Londra, Benny Spindler, care a luat 253.000 euro.
Un alt eveniment adiacent a fost turneul NLHE hyper turbo 220 euro, care a avut premii totale de 32.980 euro, cu 172 de jucători. Românul Călin Onchis a terminat pe locul 10 şi a plecat cu 690 euro, poziţia câştigătoare fiind ocupată de portughezul Miguel Silva, care a primit 4.770 euro.
Festivalul pokerului din “Orașul Florilor”
San Remo, oraşul de pe coasta de nord-vest a Italiei, este numit şi Oraşul Florilor. Frumosul oraş estival a găzduit cel de-al doilea eveniment al EPT 9, dar şi o serie de staruri ale jocului şi jucători calificaţi. În cadrul primului festival din Sezonul 9, au fost atinse mai multe recorduri, fiind înscrişi 6.848 de jucători în aproape 50 de evenimente, în joc fiind aproape 14 milioane. Un alt record demn de punctat este faptul că Evenimentul Principal a fost cel mai mare turneu din istoria Spaniei.
Următoarea destinaţie din periplul European Poker Tour este Republica Cehă, unde se va desfăşura EPT Praga în perioada 5-15 decembrie, care va avea un buy in de 5.000 + 300 euro.
