The 9th No. 1 in the history of world poker, Scott Seiver is a professional poker player in the United States who began playing at the highest level quite early.

The adventures of youth

He was born 32 years ago in Columbus, Ohio, USA and then lived in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, and now lives in Nevada, Las Vegas.

He began playing poker while he was a „freshman” at Brown University, a famous American university which is a member of the famous Ivy League, where he earned a degree in economics and another in IT. Unlike others, he preferred to finish his studies first and then begin his career as a professional poker player despite his parents’ efforts to direct him towards a „normal” career.

There’s a first for everything

Even though the poker sites in the industry „spotted” Scott since 2006, nothing foretold the „hit” he was going to make in 2008 at the WSOP when he won the only bracelet in his record.

For example, in 2006, he participated in the Poker Legends tournament in Los Angeles, a $ 9,700 + 300 WPT Championship Event, which he finished on 19^th place, making a profit. In 2017, he participated in some WSOP events from where he made around $ 35,000, enough to start building a bankroll.

At the 39th edition of the World Series of Poker, he played in 3 events which he finished in the money, but nothing seemed to foretell the big win on June 13, 2008. The tournament had 731 entries that paid a $ 5,000 buy-in. The prize pool of the event totaled $ 3,435,700, a record at that time. At that time he was 23 years old. Note that among the players he defeated at that time there were some big names who had in their turn won WSOP bracelets: Humberto Brenes (finished 14^th), Kathy Liebert (finished 24^th), Hasan Habib (finished 37^th) and David Singer (finished 58^th).

Somebody stop him…

In those moments, probably not many people were aware that a world poker star had been born. It could have been the „beginner’s luck” or a momentary inspiration. That can happen. But not to our Scott, who has since then headed straight towards glory.

At the beginning of the following year he played in the high-roller PCA event with a $ 24,500 + $ 500 buy-in where he finished 3^rd. 2009 marked the triumph in the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, a $ 5,000 + $ 180 No Limit Hold’em event, where he got $ 218,008 for the first place.

Already a regular of high buy-in tournaments, Seiver continued his way to success and in February 2010 he won the L.A. Poker Classic, Los Angeles, a $ 25,100 High Roller Event. The American’s piggy bank, which was already full, got 425,330$ more.

In May 2011, he played in the WPT Championship at the Ninth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and after investing around $ 25,000 he won a terrific $ 1,618,344 prize. Scott said at the time: „It just so happened that I had good cards many times, and my opponents played against me. A perfect combination between timing and getting the right cards at the right time.”

Among the players he defeated at the time there were big names, such as: Daniel Negreanu, Erick Lindgren, Phil Laak, Tony G, Justin Bonomo, Tom Marchese, Justin Smith, and Phil Galfond.

His presence in Europe at the big poker tournaments on the „old continent” didn’t bring him much money or notable results, but then again he didn’t play in Europe very often. Results worth mentioning here: 1^st place and $ 500,000 won at PartyPoker.com Premier League Poker V, Vienna in 2012, 3^rd placein the EPT 9 – ESPT 3 Barcelona, where he played in the $ 2,000 + 150 No Limit Hold’em tournament and won € 45,630 in August 2012, and the WPT Alpha8 win from London in the fall of 2013, a $ 100,000 tournament where he was defeated by Philipp Gruissem.

The biggest live prize was recorded at the Super High Roller Bowl in the summer of 2015 in Las Vegas when 43 players put $ 500,000 on the table to play against the world’s biggest high-rollers. Brian Rast defeated Seiver at the heads-up, and Scott won $ 5,160,000 at the time.

Since he started his career, Scott Seiver finished in the money 134 times in tournaments and earned a total revenue of $ 23,075,730. He is ranked 5th among the best American poker players and is one of the most popular players in the circuit.

Deja un obișnuit al turneelor cu buy-in ridicat, Seiver își continuă drumul către succes și în februarie 2010 câștigă L.A. Poker Classic, Los Angeles, 25.100$ High Roller Event. 425,330$ încep să se adune la “pușculița” deja plină a americanului.

Prezențele sale în Europa la marile turnee de poker de pe “bătrânul continent” nu s-au prea concretizat în prea mulți bani și rezultate, dar nici nu au fost prea numeroase. Cel mai mare câștig live s-a înregistrat la Super High Roller Bowl în vara anului 2015, în Las Vegas când 43 de jucători au pus pe masă câte 500.000$ pentru a se bate cu cei mai tari super high-rolleri din lume.
