Starting from 31st May with Event #1: $565 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em who had 731 entries and a prizepool of $365,500 until to the 18th July, the 47th World Series of Poker has everything: big winnings, heroes and celebrities. For us, Event no. 48 was one of the most interesting event this year and we want to present you.
Last summer, Kevin MacPhee bested a field of 454 players in this event to capture his first World Series of Poker bracelet. Just two months later, MacPhee made a repeat run to gold, capturing his second bracelet in the WSOPE Main Event.
In 2016 Event #48 has 524 entries at start with a buy-in of $5,000 creating a prize pool of $2,462,800. What was interesting for us was the thing that this event was a 2-day event with faster structure, 30 minute levels.
Eduards Kudrjavevs bagged the chip lead to end the first day with a stack of 640,000. Hot on Kudrjavevs’s heels is none other than three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Michael Mizrachi. Mizrachi scored several eliminations throughout the day and sat toward the top of the chip counts since the early levels. He bagged second in chips with 608,000. Rounding out the top three was Ankush Mandavia with 590,000.
Other players returning for Day 2 include Kyle Julius (488,000), Chance Kornuth (405,000) Keith Lehr (390,000), Mike McDonald (327,000), Jason Mercier (311,000), Daniel Strelitz (288,000) and Phil Hellmuth (122,000). Due to the fast nature of this structure, eliminations came at a rapid rate throughout the day. By the end of the day, the clock read that just 49 players remained.
Dozens of poker’s elite hit the felt with the hopes of bagging up for Day 2. Unfortunately, that dream was dashed for a vast majority of the field. Some of those to fall before the money bubble burst include Greg Merson, Ryan Riess, Gaelle Baumann, Erik Seidel, Taylor Paur, Liv Boeree, Bart Hanson, and reigning champion Kevin MacPhee.
Day 2 was agitated and the players starting to sift. The Day 1 “boss”, Eduards Kudrjavevs was eliminated in 16th position and received fo his performance $17,948. After that another “impact” reveals: Joe Cada was eliminated by Phil Helmuth with a pair of Jacks and finished on 11th Place ($27,804).

Ankush Mandavia was very aggressive for entire time of this final table. From Pedro Oliveira to Phil Helmuth, all of the players facing with his style.
Even Sean Getzwiller feel on his own skin what Mandavia can do and at hand #41 was eliminated when Mandavia with Q10 and Getzwiller with A5 meet. The flop comes 2 Q 8, pairing Mandavia and giving him the lead in the hand. The 10 rolls off on fourth street, giving Mandavia two pair and a lock on the hand. The A finishes the board and Getzwiller is eliminated from play.
Soon Pedro Oliveira (at hand #52), Thiago Macedo (at hand #80) and Christian Nilles (at hand #90) was eliminated one by one by Daniel Strelitz or Ankush Mandavia and reveals to everyone who will become the 2 guys who will dispute the heads-up.
So, the hand #91 show us the position on the table, who will be the last standing? The heads-up chip counts offering us a balance: Daniel Strelitz – 7,085,000 (29bb) and Ankush Mandavia – 6,020,000 (25 bb).
Soon, in hand #96 Ankush Mandavia wins his first WSOP bracelet. Daniel Strelitz raises all in for 1,065,000 from the button and Ankush Mandavia calls from the big blind.

The flop is 7 5 4, drawing „Ooooooh’s” from both players’ rails, as Strelitz picks up a few outs to survive. The turn is the J, giving Mandavia a set of jacks to lock up the hand, rendering the 2 river moot.
So, the 29-year-old professional poker player from Kennesaw, GA, making this the biggest win of his career.
