These are the five Romanian women tennis players from the Top 100 WTA: Simona Halep (5), Irina Begu (33), Monica Niculescu (47), Sorana Cîrstea (62), and Patricia Țig (86). They’ve secured a place in the tournament thanks to their WTA rankings. Ana Bogdan will play in the qualifiers of the French Open. But the news about Rafa’s physical fitness are good so this tournament could be the one where he makes a comeback. I wouldn’t bet against him, but I’d love to see a final between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Rafa is still trying to win his first title in 2017, but he managed to reach the finals at Australian Open, Mexican Open and Miami Open, while Federer won the title at Australian Open, Miami Open and Indian Wells.
The longest match in the history of the tournament was played between Fabrice Santoro and Arnaud Clement in 2004. It was played over two days and the final score was: 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(5-7), 3-6, 16-14 for Santoro.
Players with a strong serve don’t have an advantage on clay. This surface slows the ball down and reduces the amplitude of its jump, so the serve and volley players (who are very few), as well as the offensive players who tend to move fast toward the net, are in a somewhat difficult position.

Marele turneu de tenis de la Roland Garros începe Luni, pe 22 Mai, cu rundele de calificări. Duminică, 28 Mai, debutează turneul principal. Campionul de anul trecut, sârbul Novak Djokovic, va fi pe teren pentru a-și apăra titlul, la fel și Garbine Muguruza care a câștigat anul trecut învingând-o pe Serena Williams în finală. Openul francez este unul dintre cele 4 turnee de Mare Șlem, al doilea în ordine cronologică. Pe tablourile principale (bărbați și femei) vor accede câte 128 de jucători care își vor disputa trofeul.
Roland Garros-ul este singurul turneu de Mare Șlem care se dispută pe zgură, cea mai lentă suprafață de joc unde loviturile puternice nu au același impact ca pe celelalte suprafețe (iarbă, carpetă, ciment). Este cunoscut și faptul că jucătorii trebuie să se întrebuințeze serios pentru a face puncte, schimburile lungi de mingi fiind la ordinea zilei.
Favoriții.

Înainte de toate, openul francez este unul obișnuit să ofere surprize și eliminări neașteptate. De-a lungul anilor mulți jucători de top au fost eliminați cu ușurință de oponenți mult mai slab cotați.
Cât de bine joacă pe zgură cei pe care pariem. Se joacă 3 din 5 seturi și multe partide sunt foarte solicitante. Atenție, ultimul set nu intră în tie-break! Întotdeauna verificați istoricul întîlnirilor (Head-to-Head). Aceasta este una dintre regulile de bază pentru cei care pariază pe tenis, iar la Roland Garros contează enorm. De exemplu, dacă se întîlnesc Del Potro cu Milos Raonic și scorul întâlnirilor directe este 5-3 în favoarea lui Del Potro dar Raonic a câștigat cele trei meciuri directe pe zgură, este clar că e favorit.
Verificați cu mare atenție partidele din rundele inaugurale. Aici se produc cele mai mari surprize și puteți găsi cote valoroase și bune de jucat. Jucătorii din Spania, Argentina, Brazilia, Italia sunt crescuți pe zgură și mult mai bine adaptați la această suprafață, pe când jucătorii din Statele Unite, Australia sau Marea Britanie sunt mai buni pe suprafețe rapide și nu se simt chiar confortabil pe zgură. Sunt totuși jucători, cum este scoțianul Andy Murray, cu o înclinație mare spre defensivă și acesta e un punct forte la turneul francez. Murray a făcut prima finală aici anul trecut, în 2016.
Rafael Nadal. Spaniolul a câștigat trofeul de 9 ori, record absolut, dar are ceva probleme în joc. În 2016 nu a reușit să facă nici măcar un sfert de finală într-un turneu de Mare Șlem. Veștile despre forma fizică a lui Rafa sunt îmbucurătoare și s-ar putea să fie turneul lui. Nu aș paria împotriva spaniolului dar mi-ar plăcea să văd o finală Rafael Nadal – Roger Federer. Rafa este în căutarea primului titlu în 2017, dar a jucat finale la Australian Open, Mexican Open și la Miami Open, în timp ce Federer a câștigat titlul la Australian Open, Miami Open și Indian Wells.
Cel mai lung meci din istoria turneului s-a disputat între Fabrice Santoro și Arnaud Clement în ediția din 2004. Partida s-a jucat pe parcursul a două zile și scorul final a fost: 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(5-7), 3-6, 16-14 în favoarea lui Santoro.
