About 29 years ago, a great poker player was born in Michigan. Obviously, nobody knew back then where his life will lead him, but Ryan Riess followed the path towards great poker performance unhindered, growing from a meteoric appearance in 2013, when he won the WSOP Main Event, into the mature and planned player that he is today.

Short biography

We don’t know much about the childhood and youth of the one called Riess the Beast, but young Ryan graduated Our Lady of the Lakes High School catholic school in Waterford, Michigan, and then he graduated his university studies at Michigan State University with a diploma in Hospitality. In March 2019, his girlfriend, Luba, gave birth to their baby girl, named Mila.

Great successes in poker

A lot of people say that Ryan had a meteoric appearance at the WSOP Main Event in 2013 and that he just came out of nowhere… But things weren’t actually like that. Even if he was very young, Riess had his first appearances at the 2012 live tournaments, such as the WSOP Circuit Hammond, finishing second out of 1523 registered! In 2013, he played 18 live tournaments, an impressive number for a beginner, crowning his participations at tournaments with the bracelet he won at the 62nd event, $10,000 World Championship – No Limit Hold’em. What he won back then – $8,361,570, which still remains the biggest prize of his career. He beat Jay Farber at the heads-up. In 2015, he gains his first WPT title at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood, event 11, winning $63,891. After 2 years, he came back here and gave a decisive hit at the $10,000 buy-in event – No Limit Hold’em Seminole Hard Rock Finale (Event #23). The prize: $716,088.

In an interview granted for pokercentral.com at the beginning of this year he said that he wanted everything as a poker player: WSOP bracelets, WPT titles, triple crown, EPTs, U.S. Poker Opne, PokerMaster, Super High Roller Bowl, SCOOP, WCOOP…

Other successes in poker

His success can be seen all the way in Europe, as he tries to play as much poker as possible on the old continent. At the end of August 2017, he won the Barcelona PokerStars Championship, where he beat Javier Zapatero at the heads-up. The prize was consistent – $155,500. At the end of the same year, 2017, he went to the Czech capital and he missed another title from the PokerStars Championship in the EUR 25,500 No Limit Hold’em – 8 handed tournament (Event #21). He didn’t do that bad at the PCA either, he participated at the famous tournament for the opening of the global poker season in 2018 and he finished 2nd in the high roller $10,000 +150, event #31, No Limit Hold’em.

In April 2018, he played at the EPT Monte Carlo and finished 3rd in the $10,300 No Limit Hold’em – 8 Handed tournament #1. In the summer of last year, he succeeded in winning a WPT title once again, the one at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, in Hollywood, a tournament with a $10,000 buy-in. Amongst its losers: Ray Qartomy and Jayaram Kovoor.

One of the most famous victories came in October of last year, at Rozvadov, where he played the EUR 10,000 + 500 No Limit Hold’em – Turbo Highroller 10k (Single Day) tournament, adding another EUR 178,582 to his bankroll and a new title to his portfolio.

We end the presentation of his successes with two extraordinary results: second place in the US Poker Open where he played $50,000 to take a seat at the poker table, gaining the third greatest win of his career – $492,000 and 4th place in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo, Main Event, a EUR 5,300 buy-in tournament, where he won EUR 265,620.

Barely 30 years old, Ryan Riess proves that if you have talent and ambition, you can achieve anything. The guy knows what he wants and he follows his goals unsparingly. Money doesn’t matter, he has plenty, what matters is the glory, and that can only be obtained through a lot of hard work.

La finele aceluiași an, 2017, vine în capital Cehiei și ratează un nou titlu din ciclul PokerStars Championship în cadrul turneului 25,500€ No Limit Hold’em – 8 Handed ( Event #21 ). Nici la PCA nu se descurcă rău, participă la începutul lui 2018 la celebrul turneu de deschidere al sezonului de poker mondial și termină pe 2 high rollerul de 10,000$ + 150, eveniment #31, No Limit Hold’em.

În aprilie 2018 joacă la EPT Monte Carlo și termină pe locul 3 turneul 10,300$ No Limit Hold’em – 8 Handed #1. În vara anului trecut mai reușește o dată să cucerească un titlu WPT, cel de la Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, Hollywood, turneu cu un buy-in de 10,000$. Printre învinșii săi: Ray Qartomy și Jayaram Kovoor.
