The Romanian poker is on fire

Tuesday, 11 February 2020

At the end of the last year, PokerFest Romania has reached 8 years of activity and celebrated this with a major festival. In fact, this was one of the fifteen festivals that made 2019 to be the most busy year in terms of events, in the history of Romanian live poker – and things don’t stop there. Live poker has come back from a long period of decline caused by the global crisis of 2008 and now it grows among with the rest of the fields, and the Romanian gambling market is no exception.

The tournaments are increasingly being flooded by players, live satellites return to former glory, guarantees in events are consistently exceeded and the frequency of national tournaments increases. So good news on this front.

And, if nothing comes to mess things up, 2020 will be, at least, as generous in important events in the live poker arena than the previous year. After a first festival following the winter holidays, PokerFest primes its engines and expands. The second series of tournaments of the year will take place in Cluj, after many years of absence, and the third in a new amazing location: Craiova, with a festival that will test the potential in the capital of Oltenia for the first time.

Obviously, the big, international festivals will not be missing and the first of its kind will occupy for a week the great hall of the Intercontinental hotel in the capital, with the already classic 888LIVE Bucharest series, where the prizes will be in amount of no less than 300,000 euros in the main tournament – in fact, according to estimates, the prize fund could exceed half a million euros!

The “invasion” of game and fun in new locations will continue, as the Danube Delta will host the fifth PokerFest festival in 2020, in a meeting of the fisherman poker players at a luxury resort on the Sulina channel, in parallel with a world fishing championship! Neither the events on the coast will be missing, so all the fans of the two-card game will have many choices.

Along with PokerFest Romania, two online rooms have joined this intense campaign to popularize the game: NetBet Poker, with the NetBet Open series for which online qualifications are ongoing and 888poker which, in addition to the international series held in Romania, has partnered with the PokerFest team in a unique promotion so far: “Road to Vegas”.

The idea was thought out and strongly supported over the past year by PokerFest CEO, Sorin Constantinescu. He has outlined a campaign for anyone to live the ultimate dream of poker players, a trip to Las Vegas and participation in the World Series of Poker. After several months of hesitations and discussions, the idea took shape in a unique TV show: six finalists from an online tournament meet live, live on TV B1 and play for a complete package to WSOP 2020: transport, accommodation, fun and entry into the 888poker WSOP Crazy Eights tournament.

The initiative proved to be very successful and those from 888, after all the initial hesitations, added six more editions than the six already in the pipeline, so 12 players will go to the end of June in Las Vegas in search of fame and life-changing prizes, after starting with a humble $ 10 tournament with guaranteed prizes in amount of $ 5,000 played online at 888poker.

We, therefore, wholeheartedly welcome this unprecedented intensification of the promotion of poker in Romania, because this game has always been the most beautiful chapter in the diverse world of gambling, bringing in the strength ratio a special element: the ability to constantly win, solely on the basis of skills, math and mental self-control.

In short, let’s keep an eye on live poker, because 2020 will bring a lot of action and unprecedented promotions. And anyone can get in the game right now, because every weekend on NetBet Poker they run qualifying satellites at the PokerFest live events and every Friday on 888poker there are still qualifying chances in the Road to Vegas promotion.
