On June 8th, in Paris Rive Gauche hall of the Novotel Hotel, will take place one of the important events of the gaming industry of this year.
Its importance is given by the fact that all of us, those who activate in this market will undertake the subject. I am sure it is not easy for us to talk on the subject of „addiction” but with the transparency with which this event wishes to address the topic, we are certain that we will do so much good for the future of the gaming industry in Romania.
In addition, the importance of the event is also is given by the partners we have. This event is supported by the Responsible Gaming Program developed in cooperation with Romslot and Romanian Bookmakers associations, and this denotes a deepening of our industry’s involvement in this matter.
And we believe that the importance of the event also occurs from its long-term benefits, taking into account the constant pressures to which our industry is subjected to by the general public and the politicians whenever a disaster or an unwanted event occurs with one player, and we think that our presence in the largest possible number to this type of events will be an advantage when the times we will be unfavorable to us.
I considered appropriate and useful as our special guest from that day, Mr. Pieter Remmers – expert on responsible gaming recognized worldwide, to make an additional invitation of participation in this very important event for the future of our industry and he kindly granted us a short interview.
Why it’s important for the operators and for other parts of Romanian gambling industry to be present on 8th June at the event „Practice in Responsible Gambling”?
It is important for operators and other parts of the Romanian gambling industry to be present in the event as Responsible Gaming is becoming more and more important for the regulator, industry, society as a whole and the individual human being. When you come to the event you learn „everything you need to know about Responsible Gaming and were not able to find out about”.
Why it’s important for our market to improve our perspective regarding the responsible gambling theme?
It is important to improve the perspective regarding responsible gaming an act in a more pro-active way, much better than waiting for the regulator and get beaten for things you could have stopped at an earlier stage.
At our event from 8th June we will talk about the instruments for a pragmatic approach in responsible gambling issues. Why it’s significant for us, for all the actors from this industry, to speak in a transparent way about responsible gambling, more now, than the other times?
The key words are „stepped care model” and „informed decision making”. Stepped care means you provide the customer / player with the information that is necessary for the actual stag that he or she is in. Nothing more, but also nothing less.
Informed decision making based on an informed choice is the basic for every change in behavior that you would like to achieve and which has the most positive and realistic result that one can achieve.
Which are the trends about Responsible Gambling in Europe?
The developments still goes rather slow as not everyone (government and regulator as well as the industry) is recognizing the necessity of the implementation of the Responsible Gaming issues. That could lead that decision and measures are being taken, of which we don’t know the effect and the result of the measure taken. And in some countries the prevalence rates are going down despite the bigger offer of gambling opportunities.
Why you think that the European expertise it’s important for Romania in this matter (responsible gambling)?
The expertise of others is very important to be able to learn and adapt measures that can be made applicable to the Romanian situation. A lot of possible options can be used in a generic way, but have to be country and culture specific and focus on the individual.
How are the gambling business in the other parts of Earth where the addiction problem is under control? I ask you this because I saw a connection between addiction issues and the gambling business. Where this problems are resolved, the industry has the capacity to respond well at the pressures of the Government in this matter or to other problems. The industry is less blackmailed…
Of course the industry has to be careful in offering products but at the same time it has a role and the best is a pro-active one that shows commitment to the RG program. The polluter pays, but not to the full extent and the individual customer / player has a full responsibility as well.
Why the owners and the executives of gambling industries should invest resources in responsible gambling programs?
Investing in Responsible Gaming means an investment in the future of the company / operations and a long term profit as well. Any operator that is focusing on the short term and a short term profit cannot be considered a serious and sustainable industry. While it looks like that people with a gambling disorder contribute a lot to the financial profit of the operator, in the longer term it will cost more. It is easier to lose a customer / player than to achieve new players, which at the same time cost a lot as investment.Pe 8 Iunie, în sala Paris Rive Gauche a Hotelului Novotel, va avea loc unul dintre evenimentele importante ale anului în industria jocurile de noroc.
Importanța sa este dată de asumarea subiectului de noi toți, cei ce activăm pe această piață. Sunt sigur că nu ne este ușor să discutăm pe marginea subiectului „ludomanie”, dar transparența cu care dorește acest eveniment să abordeze subiectul, suntem siguri că va face foarte mult bine pe viitor industriei jocurilor de noroc din România.
În plus, importanța este dată și de partenerii pe care îi avem. Acest eveniment este susținut de Programul Joc Responsabil derulat în cooperare de asociațiile Romslot și Romanian Bookmakers, și acest lucru denotă o adâncire a implicării industriei noastre în această chestiune.
Și credem că importanța evenimentului derivă și din beneficiile sale pe termen lung, ținând cont de presiunile constante la care este supusă industria noastră de către opinia publică și politicieni, ori de câte ori se întâmplă o nenorocire sau un eveniment nedorit cu un jucător, și considerăm că prezența noastră în număr cât mai mare la genul acesta de evenimente va fi un avantaj atunci când vremurile ne vor fi potrivnice.
Am considerat oportun și util ca invitatul nostru special din acea zi, domnul Pieter Remmers – expert în responsible gaming recunoscut la nivel mondial să vă facă o invitație suplimentară de participare la această manifestare foarte importantă pentru viitorul industriei noastre și a avut amabilitatea să ne acorde un scurt interviu.
De ce este important pentru operatori şi pentru alte părţi din industria românească de jocuri de noroc să fie prezenți pe 8 iunie la evenimentul „Practica în Gamblingul Responsabil”?
Este important ca operatorii şi alte părţi din industria de jocuri de noroc din România să fie prezenți la acest eveniment deoarece Gamblingul Responsabil devine din ce în ce mai important pentru reglementatori, industrie, societate ca un întreg şi pentru fiinţa umană ca individ. Atunci când vii la eveniment înveți „tot ceea ce trebuie să ştii despre gamingul responsabil şi nu ai reușit să afli”.
De ce este important ca piaţa noastră să își îmbunătăţească perspectiva cu privire la tema gamingului responsabil?
Este important să ne îmbunătățim perspectiva privind gamingul responsabil într-un mod mai pro-activ, mai bine decât să așteptăm organul de reglementare şi de a fi sancționați pentru lucruri pe care le-am putea opri într-o etapă anterioară.
La evenimentul nostru din 8 iunie vom vorbi despre instrumentele privind o abordare pragmatică în problema gamblingului responsabil. De ce este important pentru noi, pentru toţi actorii din acest sector, să vorbim într-un mod transparent despre gamingul responsabil, acum, mai mult decât în alte ocazii?
Cuvintele cheie sunt „model de îngrijire în trepte” şi „luarea deciziilor în cunoștință de cauză”. Îngrijire în trepte înseamnă să le oferim clienților/jucătorilor informaţii care sunt necesare pentru situația reală în care aceștia se află. Nimic mai mult, dar, de asemenea, nimic mai puţin.
Luarea deciziilor în cunoștință de cauză, bazată pe o alegere informată este primordială pentru orice schimbare în comportament pe care doriţi să o obțineți şi care are cel mai pozitiv şi realist rezultat ce poate fi atins.
Care sunt tendințele privind Gamblingul Responsibl în Europa?
Se înaintează destul de încet deoarece nu toată lumea (guvernul și organul reglementator, precum și industria) recunoaște necesitatea implementării aspectelor legate de Gamblingul Responsabil. Acest lucru poate duce la luarea de măsuri și decizii al căror rezultat și efect să fie necunoscut. În anumite țări ratele de prevalență sunt în coborâre în ciuda ofertei mai mari de oportunități de gambling.
De ce credeți că expertiza europeană în această problemă (gamblingul responsibl) este importantă pentru România?
Expertiza altora este foarte importantă pentru a putea să învățăm și să adaptăm măsurile ce pot fi aplicate în situația din România. Multe opțiuni pot fi folosite la nivel general, dar acestea trebuie să fie specifice țării și culturii și să se concentreze pe individ.
Cum sunt afacerile de gambling din alte părți ale lumii unde gamingul responsabil este sub control? Întreb acest lucru pentru că am văzut o legătură între problemele de dependență și afacerile de gambling. Acolo unde această problemă este rezolvată, industria are capacitatea de a răspunde bine la presiunile Guvernelor în această problemă sau alte probleme. Industria este mai puțin șantajată…
Bineînțeles, industria trebuie să aibă grijă ce produse oferă, dar în același timp are un rol și cel mai bun este cel pro-activ, care demonstrează angajament la programul Resposible Gambling. Cel care poluează plătește, dar nu total, iar clientul/jucătorul este responsabil pe deplin.
De ce ar trebui să investească proprietarii și managementul executiv din industria jocurilor de noroc resurse în jocul responsabil?
Investiția în Jocul Responsabil înseamnă investiția în viitorul companiei / operațiunii și de asemenea profit pe termen lung. Orice operator care se concentrează pe termen scurt și pe profitul pe termen scurt nu poate fi considerat serios și constant. Deși pare că acei oameni cu o problemă în a aborda jocurile de noroc contribuie mult la profitul financiar al operatorului, pe termen lung, ne va costa mai mult. Este mai ușor să pierzi un client / jucător decât să obții mai mulți jucători noi, care în același timp presupun multe investiții.
