 A city full of entertainment like Las Vegas, will always offer the hottest means of fun in any field. Besides gaming, music is an equally important aspect, and this is where Paul Oakenfold asserted himself, a DJ who has managed to become the musical emblem of this city.

Paul is 52 years old and a pioneer of the DJ culture, but also one of the most popular in its field of activity. He was voted the best DJ in the world for two consecutive years, 1998 and 1999, and his favorite musical style is trance. Before becoming famous in Las Vegas, he had worked with Madonna, U2 and many other celebrities.

Son of a musician

Paul was born on August 30, 1963 in London, UK and was the son of a not so famous musician. He began his musical career at the age of 17, he was impressed and influenced by the legendary British band, The Beatles. In the late 70s he began to mix as a DJ and his first shows took place at the Covent Garden, London.

After several years, he made two visits to America, journeys that had changed the path of his life. In 1984, Paul spent several months in New York and worked for the Champion Record label, where he had the chance to bring DJ Jazzy Jeff, Fresh Prince and the Salt-n-Pepa band. Also during this period, he became promoter and British agent for the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C.

Another interesting story from his trips to America is that together with a friend he used to slip into the VIP only clubs and venues. They used false invitations to get near some music stars, and in this way they managed to get to know Bob Marley, Bobby Womack and Maze.

The visit to Ibiza and the birth of Perfecto Records

In 1987 he took a week trip to Ibiza to celebrate his birthday. He is impressed by the life of nightclubs here and fathomed his passion for the DJ culture. On his return to the UK, Paul brought back with him the style and musical experience encountered and started organizing similar shows in London, which enjoy great success. During the next period, he would take a few trips more trips to Ibiza, to better understand and transmit the musical style found here.

One year after the visit to Ibiza, Paul founded Perfecto Records, a record label through which he would produce the most important shows, songs and albums. Perfecto had also become a brand linked to his most important achievements.

3 years of shows in Las Vegas

Paul Oakenfold’s popularity had grown tremendously in the next years thanks to several songs he had produced and became real hits. He starting receiving more and more offers for shows and some of them come inevitably from Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world.

In 2008, after a tour alongside Madonna, Paul sets his residence in Las Vegas and plans to launch his new album „Decade of Dance”. In the autumn of the same year, he started working on the concept of a permanent show in Las Vegas entitled „Paul Oakenfold presents: Perfecto Las Vegas”. The show was to take place at Rain Nightclub within the Palms Casino Resort, a legendary nightclub in Las Vegas with a surface of 2,300 square meters, known for its special effects and the impressive number of international Artis performing here.

His performances had an unexpected success, thus Las Vegas Weekly ranked him the 7th in the top 25 of the most popular celebrities in the city’s history. „When a DJ and music producer has managed to become the main attraction in Las Vegas in 2008, with electronic dance music in the main hall of the biggest club and even a Saturday, it’s really impressive! Oakenfold had a talent for remaining in the spotlight with his performance and Planet Perfecto had become an alternative for nights spent in casinos and a not to be missed music show, being even more requested than the performances branded Cirque de Soleil.”, notes the cited source in the analysis made to the famous DJ.

For three years Paul held weekly concerts in the Rain Nightclub in Las Vegas, and his shows became the epicenter of the explosion of the DJ culture in the US. At the end of the three years, Paul returned to Europe where he released the album „Nevermind the Bollocks … here’s Paul Oakenfold” and continued his collaborations with various artists of the world music industry.

Vizita în Ibiza și nașterea Perfecto Records

În 1987 face o călătorie de o săptămână în Ibiza pentru a-și sărbători ziua de naștere. Aici e impresionat de viața din cluburile de noapte și își aprofundează pasiunea pentru cultura DJ. La întoarcerea în Marea Britanie, Paul aduce cu el stilul și experiența muzicală și începe organizarea unor spectacole similiare în Londra, care se bucură de un mare succes. În perioada următoare, va mai mai face câteva excursii în Ibiza pentru a înțelege și transmite mai bine stilul muzical descoperit aici.

La un an după vizita în Ibiza, Paul fondează Perfecto Records, o casă de discuri cu ajutorul căreia urma să producă cele mai importante spectacole, melodii și albume. Perfecto a devenit și un brand care se leagă de cele mai importante realizări ale sale.

3 ani de spectacole în Las Vegas

Popularitatea lui Paul Oakenfold crește enorm în următorii ani grație mai multor melodii pe care le produce și care ajung adevărate hituri. Primește tot mai multe oferte pentru spectacole, iar o parte din acestea, vin, inevitabil, din Las Vegas, capitala mondială a distracției.

În 2008, după un tur realizat alături de Madonna, Paul își stabilește reședința în Las Vegas și plănuiește să își lanseze aici noul său album ”Decade of Dance”. În tomna aceluiași an, începe să lucreze la conceptul unui show permanent în Las Vegas intitulat ”Paul Oakenfold prezintă: Perfecto Las Vegas”. Show-ul urma să aibă loc în Rain Nightclub din cadrul Palms Casino Resort, un club de noapte legendar din Las Vegas întins pe o suprafață de 2,300 metri pătrați, cunoscut pentru efectele sale speciale și numărul impresionat de artiși internaționali care au realizat spectacole pe scena lui.
