Connecticut’s casinos reported Monday that their take from slot machines was down again in March compared with the same month in 2012 – the 15th straight month of year-over-year revenue declines. Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket reported slot revenue of $49.6 million in March, down 5.7 percent compared with the same month in 2012. The total amount wagered at Foxwoods, called the slots’ handle, was $595.2 million, down 6.7 percent from the same month a year ago. At Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, slot revenue of $58.68 million was down 1 percent from March 2012. Mohegan’s handle was $700.7 million, down 1 percent from the same month a year ago.
The casinos contribute 25 percent of their slot revenues to the state each month. For March, Foxwoods contributed $12.7 million to the state’s special revenue fund, and Mohegan Sun contributed $14.7 million. The state’s casinos last posted a year-on-year increase in slot revenues in December 2011.
