The bill that is being considered in the Senate committee would decide where the gambling tax revenue funds would go, how many casinos would be built in the state, also the legislation has detailed regulations regarding the adoption of a gambling industry in Texas.                                                                           The Genting Group has finally given up hope on building a casino in Miami, so will now focus solely on the development of a 5 star hotel and residential properties in the city instead.  The Malaysian gambling giant spent $ 236 million in 2011 buying a five-acre site which is currently home to the Miami Herald newspaper. Genting had plans to develop the site into a hotel with over 5,000 rooms, commercial and residential towers and a Resorts World-branded casino at a total cost of $3.8 billion.

Sadly for the company it lost approval from the Florida Legislature, with fierce opposition by companies such as Disney World, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and race track owners. Florida already has two large casinos owned by the Seminole Indian Tribe, which currently holds a state monopoly on live table games and strongly opposed the development using its political influence in the state.
