FBI raid New York illegal gambling facilities

US FBI agents have over the last few days been raiding illegal gambling dens and poker games in New York and the metro area. According to reports the illegal gambling is operated by Russian organised gangs in the city and also in outlying areas of the state and city.

News channel NBC 4 were told by authorities that the FBI’s Eurasian Organized Crime Squad revealed high-stakes poker dens and large volume of off-shore sports wagering operations were being operated as part of the illegal gambling activity.

According to reports the poker games were often attended by high-profile New Yorkers ranging from tv personalities, film stars, businessmen and sports stars. There have already been dozens of people charged in connection with illegal gambling. The U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan will be making an announcement today of the charges of those held and on the progress of the investigation that is still on going.
