US FBI agents have over the last few days been raiding illegal gambling dens and poker games in New York and the metro area. According to reports the illegal gambling is operated by Russian organised gangs in the city and also in outlying areas of the state and city.
News channel NBC 4 were told by authorities that the FBI’s Eurasian Organized Crime Squad revealed high-stakes poker dens and large volume of off-shore sports wagering operations were being operated as part of the illegal gambling activity.
According to reports the poker games were often attended by high-profile New Yorkers ranging from tv personalities, film stars, businessmen and sports stars. There have already been dozens of people charged in connection with illegal gambling. Conform rapoatelor, camerele de poker erau adeseori frecventate de personalități ale orașului New York, din domenii variate, cum ar fi vedete de televiziune, de film, oameni de afaceri și staruri din sport. Deja zeci de persoane au fost acuzate în conexiune cu gamblingul ilegal. Procurorul SUA din Manhattan va face astăzi un anunț privind acuzațiile aduse celor reținuți și cu privire la progresul investigației care este încă în curs de desfășurare.
