VEGAS INFINITE PARTNERS WITH CAPCOM® & STREET FIGHTER™
ICONIC GAME REIMAGINED FOR VEGAS INFINITE IN VR, MR AND ON PC
Vegas Infinite, presented by PokerStars, has teamed up with Capcom, a leading worldwide developer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment, in a knock-out partnership focused on bringing the iconic Street Fighter video game to players in new and unexpected ways.
The multi-year match-up will see the Street Fighter game officially enter the Vegas Infinite universe, giving players the chance to transform their avatars and become their favourite characters with Street Fighter apparel and items reimagined for virtual and mixed reality, and PC. Players in Vegas Infinite, PokerStars’ 18+ free-to-play social casino game, will also be able to take part in a packed schedule of special promotions, mini-games and community events, with special prizes and official in-game collectibles up for grabs.
Round 1 starts today with Ryu and Chun-Li, two of the most well-known characters in video games. Players can choose Ryu, the game’s protagonist, to receive his iconic red headband, a customised card back, animated entrance and exit effects, 300k Chips, and an official Ryu Ducky to help fight their corner. For the first time ever in virtual and mixed reality, players can also officially equip Ryu’s red taekwondo gloves to charge up and release his signature special move, the Hadoken!
Pick Chun-Li, martial artist, Interpol officer and the first female fighter of the Street Fighter series, to equip her trademark spiked bracelets and deliver the devastating Kikoken special move in another first for the VR/MR category. Players who purchase the Chun-Li pack will also receive the fighter’s well known Chignon hair adornments, as well as a custom card back and entrance and exit effects, 300k Chips, and an exclusive Chun-Li Ducky.
James O’Reilly, Director of VR and Innovation at PokerStars, said: “When I think of videogaming in the 90s, I think of Street Fighter. It’s a franchise whose appeal spans generations of gamers and was one of the first to make that critical leap from video gaming to film, comic books, and wider pop culture. This partnership is the first step in introducing new brands into the world of Vegas Infinite and we’re incredibly proud to work with such reputable names as Capcom and Street Fighter. We’ve had great fun developing for virtual reality and mixed reality, and for our recently launched PC offering, and we know our players are going to love what we have in store. I cannot wait to launch a Hadoken across my living room.”
First released in 1987, Street Fighter was developed and published by Capcom and has become one of the top selling fighting game franchises in video gaming history. The Street Fighter franchise is widely celebrated for helping to define the fighting game genre, introducing combo systems and giving players a choice of characters to play with, each with a unique system of commands and special moves, and their own character arc.
Presented by PokerStars, Vegas Infinite is free to download and free to play on PC via Steam, with no headset required, as well as in virtual reality via the Oculus Store for Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro and Quest 3, Steam, and the PlayStation Store for PlayStation VR2.
