The Future of iGaming: Cloud, Edge & Data Sovereignty
At SiGMA Euro-Med 2025, one of the favorite topics of discussion among iGaming operators was limiting dependence on hyperscalers. Rising costs and a lack of transparency regarding data location pose major risks to privacy and cross-border compliance.

Legislation such as the Patriot Act or Cloud Act raises questions for operators who prioritize player protection. Furthermore, data security and sovereignty are becoming critical: cyberattacks are a certainty, and public cloud solutions can create a false sense of security through complexity and lack of control. That is why many operators are turning to private, hybrid, or colocation infrastructure to maintain control over their data and IT infrastructure.
Hybrid Cloud & Colocation – a Winning Bet
- Performance & Low Latency: critical workloads on dedicated servers, ideal for live gaming and fast transactions.
- Instant scalability: cloud resources for traffic spikes, without massive investments.
- Resilience & Compliance: collocation with redundant power supply and total control over data location.
AI & ML – Technologies that are Transforming the iGaming Industry
- Personalized experience: real-time promotions and suggestions, tailored support.
- Responsible gaming: early detection of risky behaviors.
- Security & anti-fraud: monitoring suspicious transactions and activities.
- Accelerated development: AI optimizes gameplay, betting odds, and content generation.

New Insights from Behind the Scenes of iGaming after SiGMA Euro-Med 2025. M247 Global Interview

M247 Global
In September, the M247 Global team participated in SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 in Malta, one of the most important events dedicated to the iGaming and online gambling industry. M247 Global’s presence aimed to strengthen relationships with industry operators and suppliers, showcase global infrastructure capabilities, and gain a deeper understanding of the current challenges facing the ecosystem. We spoke with Alexandra Davidescu, Miruna Alexandru, and Elena Puica from the Business Development team to find out what the main topics were and what conclusions they drew from this experience.
What were the topics that generated the most discussion at SiGMA Euro-Med?
Alexandra Davidescu: Artificial intelligence was undoubtedly the star topic. Not only as an emerging technology, but also as a regulatory and ethical challenge. There was also a lot of talk about compliance, affiliation, and the dynamics of startups. At the same time, security and infrastructure attracted attention at a time when operators are increasingly looking for partners who can offer them stability and control.
Miruna Alexandru: In addition to AI, blockchain and fintech were also hot topics, especially in relation to payments and transparency. The startup pitches showed how innovation comes from very diverse areas. Overall, the main direction is clear: integrating technology to make platforms more efficient, secure, and attractive to users.
How did you perceive the overall atmosphere and energy of the event, both during the official sessions and in networking?
Alexandra Davidescu: Very dynamic, focused on interaction and informal meetings. The presentations were useful for setting the context, but the real focus was on networking, bilateral meetings, and applied discussions. The event served as a catalyst for business connections.
Miruna Alexandru: There was a successful balance between conferences, demos, and social activities, but they all converged toward the same goal: the direct exchange of ideas. The dedicated matchmaking app also encouraged interactions. The atmosphere was conducive to dialogue and collaboration.
What was the profile of the participants? Was there a stronger presence of technical specialists or executives and decision-makers?
Alexandra Davidescu: Participation was very diverse. I met both executives who define company strategies and sales and business development professionals. Geographically, the majority were European, but markets in Africa, LATAM, and the Middle East were also represented.
Miruna Alexandru: In my discussions, people from the technical and business development areas predominated, but at the panel and social meeting level, there were many C-level executives present. Basically, all decision-making levels were represented.
What questions did participants ask you about M247’s services and solutions?
Alexandra Davidescu: We were asked about our experience with reference customers in the industry, as well as about colocation and network services. Our interlocutors wanted to understand to what extent we can support their international expansion and how we can offer predictability.
Miruna Alexandru: We most often received questions about our global infrastructure—latency, redundancy, uptime. Operators are looking for partners who can guarantee stability, performance, and compliance, and this is where M247 Global has a clear competitive advantage.
Did SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 provide you with the right context to discover current industry trends and the difficulties that iGaming providers are facing?”
Elena Puica: Definitely. The event clearly outlined the main challenges: increasingly strict regulations, the need for scalability and technical performance, as well as pressure on security and compliance (GDPR, ISO, PCI-DSS). Also, localizing the gaming experience and quickly adapting to the specifics of local markets are key factors for success. For M247 Global, it was a valuable exercise to see how we can respond to these needs through scalable infrastructure, a global network, and specialized support.
Alexandra Davidescu: Yes, I felt the direction very clearly: pressure on regulations, pressure on costs, and, at the same time, very high expectations for technological innovation.
Miruna Alexandru: Beyond the insights, we also understood where we can have the greatest impact—through enterprise-level connectivity, minimal latency, and services that support operators in focusing on their business, not their infrastructure.

The main challenges, therefore, relate to regulation, scalability, security, and localizing the user experience. What were the most relevant aspects discussed in these topics?
Elena Puica: Regulation remains a sensitive issue, especially in emerging markets or where legislation is changing rapidly. As a result, many providers are looking for partners who can offer scalable infrastructure that complies with local requirements. On the other hand, scalability and technical performance were discussed in the context of rapid user growth and expectations for minimal latency and guaranteed uptime. Cybersecurity and compliance with standards continue to be priorities, especially for operators managing large volumes of data and transactions. Last but not least, localization of the user experience – from local payments to personalized content – was highlighted as an essential factor for differentiation and player retention.
For the M247 team, participating in SiGMA Euro-Med represented a strategic opportunity: a combination of strengthening business relationships, testing the relevance of solutions with operators, and understanding the directions of evolution of the iGaming industry. The next step? ICE Barcelona 2026, a much larger event, where M247 will continue to explore how its global infrastructure can respond to the most pressing market challenges.
