The Casino Inside 2022 events were clear proof that the Romanian gaming industry can stand together! Moreover, the representatives of our industry are starting to grow up and understand that we can no longer stay detached from the social issues that are perceived to be related to our activity, such as addiction. We also discussed what politicians are preparing for us next year. We talked about taxation and self-regulation, and in general the most burning issues for the industry, but in the evening at the Gala we also had fun and rewarded the best in the industry. Here’s how it all went down:

The Gambling Professionals’ Reunion had an audience of 125 people from 60 companies (operators, machine manufacturers, service providers, PR companies, law firms, professional and employer associations, etc.).
Our business event had a new moderator this year in the person of Professor Dr. Lawyer Marius Cezar Pantea. He has successfully performed his moderator duties and, using his own extensive experience in the field and his exceptional professional training, has managed to conduct the debates harmoniously and efficiently.
The first intervention came from the representative of the ONJN, Mr. Mihaita Ruiu, Director of the General Directorate of Authorization within the National Gambling Office. He presented to the audience a series of interesting statistical data, a pity that they were not given to the public in a presentation so that they could be remembered more easily, but perhaps next time the Office will make a minimum effort to have a presentation, as it had in the past at events hosted by us.

Mr. Ruiu wanted a free discussion with the audience and the questions did not stop coming, resulting in an interesting and useful dialogue, which is why we met. The dialogue would have gone on for hours had we not had other speakers on the programme.
Alexandru Rîlea, International Sales Manager of Synot Games, had the first presentation from our partners and presented a series of information about the company’s products and services dedicated to both the online and landbased sectors.
Next, Gabriel Biriș, renowned lawyer and tax expert at Biriș Goran SPARL, presented the tax changes in gambling and their impact on the day-to-day activity of companies in the sector. The topics presented aroused a lively interest and further animated the dialogue in the hall, many companies being interested in how the reputed specialist and tax professional, former Secretary of State in the Ministry of Finance, sees things, especially after this summer’s overtaxation.

A surprise appearance at RPG10 was the presence of lawyers Cosmina Simion and Ana-Maria Baciu from SCA Simion Baciu as speakers. This was due to the fact that Mrs. Odeta Nestor could not honour our invitation to attend the event for good reasons. The ladies lawyers addressed the topic of the countless legislative changes that have followed one another in rapid succession this year, especially in July and November, as well as the draft laws that are expected to be debated soon in the Romanian Parliament and that, most likely, in 2023 will strongly affect our industry.

Cristian Pascu (AOPJNR President) and Doru Gheorghiu (Exprogame consultant) continued the series of very interesting presentations at the Meeting and proposed to the audience a dialogue that focused on the fears and concerns of small and medium operators in our industry.

Further on Václav Klepáček, General Manager for Romania at Tech4Bet, showed us what the challenges are when creating content for different platforms and then entering a new market. A very interesting presentation from a young online game producer from the Czech Republic.

Laura Boșneag, sales manager Novomatic Romania, also gave a very useful and interesting presentation on how the Austrian company provides the gambling industry with practical solutions tailored to the needs of the market and legislative changes in the gambling industry.

One of the best speeches in recent years heard at our events was that of the President of ROMSLOT – Slot Organisers Association, Mr. Sorin Georgescu, who openly discussed in front of the audience the fact that the industry needs to start, step by step and company by company, a self-regulation process that includes aspects related to advertising (often too aggressive) and especially the way we are perceived by the authorities and society. He gave a moving speech that warned us all about what could happen to us next year if we don’t pull our act together.

Finally, Adrian Șandru, criminal lawyer and Marius Porceanu, Director General of SPIA (Secret. Private. Investigations. Agency) gave an excellent and much appreciated speech in which they presented to the audience the topic “Fraud in gambling. Prevention. Effects.” Advocating for a more careful and proactive fight against fraud, black market and unfair competition in the gambling industry, all from a criminal perspective.
