Tuesday, 5 September 2023

We offer you the premiere of a very interesting interview with the General Manager of Regio Metro Cert, one of the leading companies in the field of metrological verification of slot machines operating in our gaming market. We discussed topics related to the company’s activity, the economic and especially the legislative environment, the finalization of the accreditation scheme, as well as the company’s future plans.

Regio Metro Cert

As this is your first time in the pages of our magazine, please tell us a few things about your company: What are the main services you provide to a client in the gambling industry?

First of all, I would like to thank you for the invitation, you are one of the few reliable publications in the industry.

Our group has been active in many branches of legal metrology for more than 20 years, and since 2018 we have started to offer inspection services for gaming means, always following our customers’ needs and meeting their requirements with great seriousness.

What are your company’s strengths? Why would you choose a gaming operator to collaborate with?

In recent years, the sector has become more and more competitive, CABs Class II licensees try to offer the best service to their clients, and we do too, but the most important thing is the dedication of our team and the seriousness with which we approach each inspection, deadlines are a law for us and we are proud that we have never disappointed a client, and thanks to the organization of the company we believe this will be true for a long time to come. If your readers are potential customers, we challenge them to send us their “heaviest” order to demonstrate the qualities of our team.

We know that your company is highly regarded in the industry. What is your response time from the moment you receive a firm request from a customer?

Given our national coverage, response times vary from a few hours to a maximum of 2 working days, but as mentioned above, our deadlines are a matter of law for us, and the customer benefits from transparency and predictability so that their business is not affected.

It is shaping up to be an exciting time in the gaming industry, with tens of thousands of machines expected to be changed/upgraded. Is Regio Metro Cert ready for this “trend”? How many devices can your company metrologically check?

Indeed, legislative changes herald a wave of inspections, but over the years there have always been periods, such as after the pandemic, when we have met all customer requirements and we are confident that when the time comes, our company will be able to meet customer needs as well as ever.

Why is it so important for a gambling organizer to have a metrology of slot machines that complies with the legislation in force and is metrologically correct towards its customers?

A metrological check that complies with the legislation in force gives the player the confidence that the gambling organizer’s activities are legally correct, which is very important in a country where confidence is often questioned. Transparency towards players, the use of compliant means of play and, last but not least, a control of the means of play allowing an efficient and safe operation is also important for operators.

What is the current legislative and operational situation in your field of activity? It is known that recently (the last 2-3 years) there has been a situation of “uncertainty” in the area of conformity assessment bodies (CABs) in the gambling industry…

The legislative situation is relatively uncertain, which is largely due to the legislator, the lack of decision-making transparency and predictability puts pressure on the whole industry. At the moment, the CABs are accredited for the control of gambling products in the voluntary sector, either in the country or abroad, but we are talking about a regulated sector which, according to the latest amendment on the matter, will have to operate from 1 January 2024, and the only solution is to finalize the accreditation scheme, an issue that the authorities are constantly avoiding.

Please tell us what are your plans for the future?

We are currently focusing our attention on the digitization part of the inspection process, wanting in this way to streamline response times, eliminate human errors as much as possible, thus improving the services offered to our customers.
