Editorial – Între faliment şi new business / Oscillating between bankruptcy and new business

Who says that the Romanian gambling market is not alive and dynamic, is for sure wrong.  Even in the shade of the bankruptcies of every sector, and of the gambling market as well, we do also face new business launchings in Romania. The last month attempt of the well known business man Dinu Patriciu to launch an offline betting room, seemed to be the only one of its kind and obviously, it was financially sustained by the Romanian billionaire. I can only bring words of praise to this, especially because of the fact that the times we face are ones of insolvency.

Few days after this new opening, we hear of a loss-Princess Planet Casino closed it gates, after several years of quality entertainment offered to its clients.

Unfortunately, the national economic conditions which are increasingly harsher, the influence of the tax augmentation over the Romanian gambling as well as the fact that at midyear, many companies had to renew their licenses (thus to pay more taxes), were the factors that led to another bankruptcy for the Princess International group. Hence, the live part of Princess Havana was closed and the company was left in use only with the slot room.

What surprises me is that the Turkish representatives of Princess were not able to take more self-possession on a market where they operated 3 live casinos, after more than 15 years of success! Were they taken by surprise by the impact of the crisis in Romania and were caught off guard, with no plan B?

What is at the same time interesting and gratifying is that the same period coincided with the appearance of Poker G Club, a new concept with an old recipe: poker room (very modern) and slot room, all wrapped in a mix of pleasant atmosphere, free-bar and automatic game services.

This impressive investment comes almost as a statement that together with 1×2 Bet Café Arena and the already known Casino Spiral in Piteşti claim that the world of gambling doesn’t stand still but on the contrary, invests despite the risky times, conveying a mature message to both the clients and the authorities: such a crisis knocks down only those who are weak; those who are strong only come out stronger!
